Project Overview
During 1997, Shaw Brothers Construction, Inc. performed as a subcontractor for Cianbro Corporation on the demolition of the historic “Million Dollar Bridge” that spaned the Fore River, connecting Portland and South Portland. The primary scope of work was to demolish all existing concrete structures above water and land, recycle all concrete, including that taken from below the water by Cianbro, and build the new Harbor View Park. When the State of Maine decided to build the new Casco Bay Bridge, they established a plan for what to do with the 22,000 yards of concrete debris from the demolition of the old bridge.
