Project Overview

award_icon_profile.alphaAt approximately 11:30 AM on Thursday, September 2, 2010 a 200 foot stretch of the heavily traveled Riverside Drive (Route 136) collapsed, sending large volumes of clay, sand and asphalt into the adjacent Androscoggin River. The roadway was immediately closed to all traffic, disrupting the main connector between Auburn and Freeport. The Maine Department of Transportation turned to Shaw Brothers Construction to rebuild the roadway within an aggressive 2 month schedule. Equipment and manpower were immediately mobilized to the site to begin the 7 day per week effort of rebuilding the roadway. By utilizing state of the art satellite controlled (GPS) automation mounted on equipment, quality subcontractors who understood the project goals and our own aggregate source conveniently located only 10 miles from the project we were able to bring the project in 24 days ahead of schedule.
