Project Overview

On July 28, 2017 Shaw Brothers Construction was awarded the contract for the Woodfords Corner Roadway and Safety Improvements project.  This project is located on Forest Avenue in Portland, which serves as a major hub connecting Portland’s residential neighborhoods with down town businesses. Maine DOT estimates 27,000 vehicles travel through this area every day, making it one of the busiest arterials in Maine. Completion of this project will allow this up and coming neighborhood to continue to grow, making it more pedestrian friendly and providing the needed infrastructure for future development. This project focused on improving three significant components to Woodfords Corner; first to provide pedestrians and bicyclists with safe, accessible access, second to reduce traffic congestion, and third to upgrade the aging sub-surface infrastructure.
