Shaw Brothers Makes Major Expansion Into Asphalt Placement and Production
Aug. 15, 2013
After five years of manufacturing asphalt through its subsidiary, Commercial Paving, LLC, in Scarborough, Maine, using a small 100-ton/hour drum plant, Shaw Brothers has made a major commitment to expand its paving operation. We continue to hire experienced personnel to perform the asphalt lay down and have been paving parking lots, town roads, and state highways. We have also ordered a new, state of the art, natural gas fired, 400 ton/hour Astec hot-mix asphalt plant with (4) 200-ton heated silos to be up and running in April 2014. By burning natural gas, this will be the most environmentally friendly plant in Southern Maine. The plant will be located at Shaw Brothers headquarters and its B pit/quarry, which contains over 5 million yards of aggregates and will allow us to be a low-cost provider. We plan to be in the asphalt business for a very long time.
